November Thankful Contest Day #15 - Artists studios again in Carmel

There used to be so many art gallery licenses granted (126 at one time), that the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea decided to not give out any more. And at that time it was not unreasonable because the entire city is only one square mile and the commercial district only a few square blocks.

At that time they set up the rule that the only NEW licenses granted were to artists opening a studio. They had to predominantly sell their own paintings.

As to galleries, if you wanted to move your gallery, say to a better location, that location would need to have been a gallery immediately prior to the move.

Because of these restrictions, quite a few artists opened studios in town! This is great because you can actually go in and see them work, talk to them, commission work. Visitors to Carmel just love this.

Nicholas Boghosian is one of these artists who opened his studio right across the street from the Post Office on Dolores and 5th. You walk in there and he is like a ray of sunshine. Many visitors have been attracted into his little studio and have stayed to commission work. See his website www.nicholasboghosian.com

I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THERE ARE ONCE AGAIN ARTIST STUDIOS IN CARMEL

Below are some photos I took yesterday of Nicholas sitting outside amidst his many flowers, and some inside shots, as well at his table where he always has a project in the works.
