When it gets cold in Carmel-by-the-Sea, find an outdoor fireplace

Does everyone head inside when it gets cold in Carmel-by-the-Sea?

This week it's been very chilly here. That makes for crisp sunsets and a razor sharp horizon. But in town it means people are looking for a romantic outdoor fireplace or firepit to sit next to for their end of the day glass of wine or dinner.

Although I can't prove it by these photos since I took them about 4 PM, but all those chairs are going to be full in another hour.

CYPRESS INN GARDEN COURTYARD: A wonderful place to have a cocktail and appetizers at the end of the day. Patrons often take their furry friends with them. The inn is pet friendly throughout. This courtyard is open to the sky, but in inclement weather, everyone, including pooches, just moves inside where there is another fireplace in the living room.

HOGS BREATH INN: This is actually a restaurant/pub that visitors flock to because of its "Clint Eastwood" ambience and decor. For lunch try one of the Artichoke dishes including the "Oven Baked Artichoke Crab DiP" or the "Castroville Artichoke Soup". My own favorite for dinner is the "Peppered Seared Ahi Tuna,"  Or for us worker bees, try the Early Bird Special, the "Dirty Harry Dinner." In inclement weather, there is some seating inside as well.

VILLAGE CORNER BISTRO: This landmark restaurants has been a favorite for 60 years, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cuisine is "California" and Mediterranean. Here, the outdoor seating area is covered, but there is a choice of inside seating as well. Oh, of course, well behaved pooches can accompany their people on the outdoor patio.

PS. I might just take a stroll later to see people at the fireplaces. We'll see.

Carmel is one my favorite places whenever we get to the San Francisco area ... I know it's further south, but Carmel isn't ever the ultimate destination, just one of the best places to stop and go for a stroll. I remember seeing some lovely outdoor places like these! And these look so relaxing! Time for a visit and a latte!

Hella I'd pull up a chair in front of one of those fireplaces and want to stay awhile.  Beautiful photos.

Hella, Those fireplaces look so inviting and warming too. They have really gotten popular in the last few years.

Barbara: It might not look but, but it's gotten in the 30's at night. Brrr...

Gabrielle: Call me and we'll have a latte.

Cinty: How about a glass of one of the area's fabulous wines?

Hannah: Not damp here right now, thank heavens. But chillyyyyyyy...

Ginger: A fairy tale city in the forest.

Debbie: Why go inside when you can sit by a fireplace like that?

Engre: I stay at Lobos Lodge, and ALL the rooms have fireplaces. But not woodburning. Still, great ambience.
