18 Carmel Valley Village Wine Tasting Rooms, a delightful weekend trip

Wineries who used to have wine tasting rooms at their vineyards throughout Monterey County, now have opened up tasting rooms in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Carmel Valley. Today, I spent the afternoon at the 18 tasting rooms located in Carmel Valley Village, California. Yes, I parked my car and walked all of them, although I did not stop and sip wine at each. But it was fun to see the layouts, some have art displayed on their walls, many have gardens to sit and enjoy. For a map of the tasting rooms, please click on www.carmelvalleycalifornia.com/indexwine.html

In fact, when you look at that map, the "East End Wine Row" of 7 tasting rooms at the east end of Carmel Valley Village will be holding their SPRING CELEBRATION tomorrow, Sunday, April 28th between 1-5PM during which you can enjoy small bites while watching cooking and gardening demonstrations. And, of course, taste wine at the participating tasting rooms. Tickets for the event can be purchased for $35 per person, $5 of which benefits Voices for Children--CASA of Monterey County.

Georis Wine Tasting Room Carmel Valley CA

However, today I decided to stop off at the Georis Wine Tasting garden, found a small table in a quiet area that was partially shaded by a tree, and ordered a glass of Georis' 2012 Pinot Grigio ($9.50) and the Artisan Cheese Plate (for two for $14). This is part of a small menu of appetizers that can be ordered from the adjacent Georis Restaurant and that compliment the wine tasting experience.

Hella, you make me want to visit. It would be rejuvenating to me to take a day off. Ah, for Sandy and me to take in one day of scenic Carmel Valley...plus some memorable wine would be very rewarding for all of this year's hard work.

Hella, That's my kind of day.  I like natural settings. Wine and cheese ... love them and remember them well.  I used to have cheese and crackers with a glass of wine for dinner. Nowadays its a green organic salad.  In days gone by I could do that cheese plate some major damage! Looks like you had a wonderful day!

Joe: It's amazing what is happening in Carmel Valley. It rivals Napa and Sonoma in wine tasting experience. Of course, these are Monterey County wineries that have become so well known.

Norman: You need to get away from all that work and enjoy what is around you. And you know what? I meet plenty of potential clients during these trips!

Debbie: You would have really enjoyed it.

Tom: Even if you aren't into wine tasting, it is a wonderful experience. I walked throughout the village, looking at art, tasting olive oils (that have their own tasting rooms), and sitting in hidden gardens with coffee and desserts.

Kathleen: My favorite dinner is still cheese, an apple and a glass of wine!
